Dow Jones futures kick off 2024 in the green
The Dow Jones closed out 2023 on Friday at 37,689.54. That was a lower close on the day of just 20 points, but still close to the new records it reached earlier in the week, when it rose to an all time high of 37,778. Of course it was a record annual close for the Dow too, as indeed it was for theS+P 500 as well. Overnight the Dow Jones futures have gained despite a fall in the Chinese markets today. Japanese markets are closed today for the New Year holidays and will not reopen until Thursday. The Dow Jones future was pricing a reopening for later today at above 37,750. That rise has been tempered somewhat right now, with the index currently priced to reopen at around 37,735
