Dow Jones futures eyeing a potential new record this afternoon?

It will not be long now until the US stock markets kick off the new week. The gains in the Dow Jones on Friday saw the index close 462 points higher, at 41,175. The all time record high for the index has been noted here many times over the past few trading days and to remind the reader, that stands at 41,376. Right now the Dow Jones futures are pricing a higher opening shortly this afternoon. That is currently at around 41,240 and so it percentage terms the index is just spitting distance from reaching a new record this afternoon. So, will it do that? Well, in truth it would not take much of a push from here today to deliver a new record, but as usual we should never take that for granted. It is also possible, that if the index does rise above 41,376; that it could flip the whole move to the August 5 low (38,499) back through 41,376.
