Dow Jones futures braced for headline driven events today

Yesterday the Dow Jones fell by more than 500 points at one stage. The index had closed the night before at 38,989 and it hit a session low yesterday, at 38,457. It did manage to recover in the final hour of trading last night, ending the session at 38,585, with a loss of 404 points on the day. Of course the index was dragged lower by greater percentage losses in the Nasdaq 100, but it was not too impressed by the US data that had greeted it earlier in the day. So, with that in mind we have more potential headline breaking events to impact the futures price action later today. That kicks off with the latest ADP private payroll report and monthly JOLTS data (at 1.15pm and 1.30pm GMT respectively). Those releases could impact the Dow futures and then after the opening we have the Fed boss, Jerome Powell talking at 3pm GMT. Right now the Dow Jones futures have not gained at all ahead of the European opening, currently pricing a reopening pretty close to, or slightly below where the index ended last night
