The wider US markets are up and running now, but it is still some while before the US stock markets will reopen for live trade, at 2.30pm GMT. The US futures are off their earlier highs now and the dollar is a little firmer versus the European currencies, it is not much changed versus the Yen. The Dow Jones was earlier pricing a reopening at around 37,450. It is currently pricing it closer to 37,425, so not much changed materially. The news flow has been light and it has been quiet since my last update. That is entirely to be expected ahead of some tier 2 US economic releases this afternoon. At 1.30pm GMT we have the Philadelphia Fed non-manufacturing activity index as well as the Chicago Fed National activity index and there is no expectation here for those, but if they are drastically different from the previous readings that will be conveyed to you in due course.
