Dollar index (USD) gets a battering it did not expect today

The resultant impact on the broader dollar as gauged by the dollar index (USD) has seen it take a real hit now today. Earlier the index was tracking lower anyway, but not in any kind of meaningful way. Well, it sure has now. The index peaked earlier at 109.47. It has since fallen back to below 108.00 and it is still under pressure as this update is typed. Now let me get one thing straight here, before we read more into this Trump tariff news. He may be dialling back on immediate tariffs from day one, but who is to say after a few days his tune will not change? One thing we do know about Trump; he is unpredictable at the best of times. So, perhaps for that one reason the markets may not extend these dollar looses too much further, but that is not to say they will not. The Dollar index has already taken as bigger one-day kicking as it has so far this year. As to how more it will take by the close this evening remains to be seen
