Dollar grinding to a slow halt as 4pm London fix approaches

As I write this final update of the day, due to the US holiday, the major FX market is pretty quiet. Most of the serious operators look like they have called it a day already and there does not appear to be much price action in any of the majors. The USD/JPY is still leading dollar gains in terms of the majors, as it remains camped near 149.50. That has also helped to keep the major Yen crosses elevated too, most especially the GBP/JPY right now, holding close to 187.50. The GBP/USD is higher on the day, but the feeling here; is that it could have done better , were it not for a more general rebound in the US currency.
