DAX steps back from a new record at 18,001
Earlier this morning the DAX was all set to potentially reopen above 18k for the first time ever. That prospect was covered here in an update at the time. Well, since then the DAX has of course reopened, but it could not quite manage to resume live trading above that 18,000 level. The index actually reopened at 17,984, but it has printed a trade above 18k. The high seen was at 18,001. Of course a move further above 18k is by no means ruled out today, but so far that level has capped the gains and that is not exactly a surprise, as it is a major milestone for the German index, when all is said and done. The DAX is just now trading at 17,975
