Yesterday the DAX did defy the technically negative close it had set in place on Friday and it did push higher, as covered here later in the day. The index lifted from an early session low at 21,785. It eventually topped 21,900 and then pushed even higher towards the close. The interesting thing was; it matched almost exactly the previous record it had set on Friday, at 21,945.31. In fact it ever so slightly beat that, when topping out at exactly 21,945.57. However, we are talking about the smallest possible margin here, as you can see. The index later closed at 21,911. So, there is the faint possibility that it might have set in place a double top on the daily chart, but it is way too early to begin to conclude on that prospect. We shall have to see how this plays out when live trading resumes a little later this morning. The index is right now priced to reopen around 21,910
