As noted here a little earlier, when looking at the performance of the CAC 40 yesterday, the DAX also set a lower close. The DAX handed back 0.84%, losing 157 points on the day, when closing at 18,590. Earlier in the day the index had peaked at 18,743. At this point, the reader is reminded of the 2024 and all time record set earlier this year, at 18,892. There is little doubt the index was led lower by the CAC, but it has its own reasons for falling back most recently and this morning it could do with a better outcome than currently forecast for the latest reading of the German ZEW index. That is due out at 9am GMT and it is forecast to drop back to around 42 from 47 last month. The DAX futures are lower this morning and currently pricing the opening at around 18,520
