DAX set to open above 19,400 shortly this morning

The DAX was the best performing major European index on Friday. It gained 162 points to close the week at 19,373. The current all time record high is in place at 19,491, set on September 27. The DAX futures are higher right now, leading into the European opening shortly. The current indication on that opening call is above 19,400 and so, as you can see it is clearly within striking distance of the record it set at the end of last month. The index continues to defy the German economic backdrop and seems to be more focused on the prospect of a series of ECB rate cuts which are set to commence later this week (ECB decision due on Thursday at 12.15pm GMT). The DAX is just now set to reopen at around 19,405
