DAX set for a modestly higher opening this morning

The DAX was unable to force a higher close yesterday. The index backed away from a session high at 18,638. It had closed on Friday at 18,633. It later closed just 16 points lower, at 18,617. That slightly lower close compared to a slightly higher close for the CAC 40 (7,590). So for a change the French index outperformed the its German counterpart. Of course with the London markets closed yesterday it was a pretty subdued session for the European markets. So, this morning the economic news released earlier from Germany is not especially great news for the DAX, but the futures have so far ignored all that and the index is set to reopen slightly higher shortly this morning. The opening call is right now set at around 18,640. Further updates will follow after live trade resumes and we see where the markets might want to take this one today
