DAX set to kick off the new month with a bang

The outlook for the European opening later this morning is pretty positive right now. On Friday the DAX was by some margin the weakest of the major European stock markets. The index barely managed to make any progress at all on Friday, ending the month with a gain on the day of just 1 single point, at 18,497. However, the late session charge over the pond in the US on Friday and gains in Asia today have helped to push the DAX futures sharply higher this morning. Of course the prospect of the ECB lowering interest rates this week is a surely a major supporting factor for the index this morning. So, right now the DAX is leading the European futures gains and the index is currently priced to reopen above 18,650
