DAX rejects 18k in early trade

A little earlier this morning the DAX opened higher. Officially that opening was set at 17,900, but that was a book entry and not a price to trade on. As noted here a while ago, the configuration of the DAX pricing mechanism is now tracking that more closely of the FTSE 100 and barely leaving opening gaps anymore. Leaving that aside, the initial move saw the index try to push above 18k. However, it was not able to manage that and it has fallen back from a high at 17,994, towards 17,950 just now. Of course it is very early in the day for the index and there will be more price swings to come, but for now it is disappointment over German earnings that has denied the first attempt at 18k. The DAX is currently trading at 17,951
