DAX off to a rather nervous and inconclusive start

The European stock markets have just reopened. The DAX closed lower yesterday, handing back 111 points by the close, at 19,213. Earlier in the day the index had topped out at 19,448. The low seen yesterday was set at 19,143. The index has just now reopened ever so slightly lower, but not markedly so. The index remains vulnerable to more of what impacted it yesterday and just like all the other major stock markets here in Europe very much headline driven in the short term. The FTSE 100 is the best performer in early trading, for all the reasons noted here yesterday and that is all about oil. There will be more to add on that a little later. Meanwhile, the DAX is currently trading at 19,210
