DAX poised for a higher opening today

As noted in earlier updates here today, both the DAX and the CAC 40 closed in the red yesterday. The DAX was the weakest of the major indexes, with a 0.38% decline. The index closed 68 points lower, at 17,746. However, despite being negative, that close was some way above the earlier lows of the session, at 17,662. The rebound in the US futures and now further gains in the FTSE 100 futures has helped to endorse a higher opening today though. It will be interesting to see if that higher opening this morning leads to a higher close this afternoon. We shall have to see on that, but given the potential for the US CPI data to impact all markets, it might be wise to keep an open mind on that. The DAX is right now priced to reopen at around 17,825
