The European equity markets have been open for quite a while now and in that time there has been some contrasting performances. The FTSE 100 is being weighed down for all the reasons mentioned here, both before and after the opening. Conversely, the DAX has been making progress. Hence the FTSE is in the red and the DAX is in the green now this morning. The DAX reopened slightly higher today, at 15,911 after a close yesterday set at 15,901. It has pushed higher since that opening and is trying to lift past 15,950. As noted here earlier this morning, the 16k handle is very much on the radar now and the price action so far this morning is still trying to push it that way. The DAX is currently the best performing major European stock market, with the CAC 40 in the red too. The DAX is currently backing off a bit, now trading at 15,929
