Yesterday the noted early surge in the DAX saw the index rise to a high at 16,963. It had already reopened the New Year higher, at 16,828. However, and as covered here at the time, the early gains were later wiped out and that saw the DAX slide to a session low at 16,648. It did recover from that low and later closed at 16,769. It was the only major European index to end the day in the green too, with a gain of just 17 points on the day and so it avoided a negative outside day reversal. That said the opening outlook is not exactly positive for the index this morning and the DAX future is a little in the red just ahead of the opening in a couple of minutes, currently pricing that at around 16,750
