DAX lifts from earlier session lows
The European stock markets are now making some progress, after what was a rather uncertain start to the day. The DAX had opened slightly higher (at 16,936), but then slipped back below where it had closed last night (at 16,921) and then below 16,900. However , despite some headwinds from losses in major component stocks, the index has now rebounded from an earlier session low at 16,889. The move higher is being assisted by a rebound in the FTSE 100 and the CAC 40 indexes unfolding now too. The DAX is now trading back above 16,950
