DAX higher this morning ahead of German ZEW index

Yesterday the DAX closed just 4 points higher, at 17,726. Earlier in the day the index had topped the 17,800 mark, but was not able to hold the gain into the close. The threat of an attack by Iran upon Israel was the news that helped to push the index lower into the close. Following no further developments in that regard, the index opened higher today, at 17,799. It has lifted to a high so far earlier at 17,817. However, it has backed-off from there now, as the latest German ZEW economic sentiment draws closer. That will be released at 9am GMT and it is not expected to be especially good. The markets anticipate a drop back to around 32, from a prior reading of 41.8. A rundown of what actually emerges will be covered here shortly after the release. So, the DAX is a little off the earlier high just now, trading at 17,795
