Well, it should come as no surprise, but the DAX set fresh records yesterday, when it rose above 16,800 (16,817 the high) and nearly posted its first ever daily close above 16,800. The index ended the session at 16,794 with a gain of 35 points on the day. That was of course still a new record close for the DAX. The gains later in the US stock markets, which delivered higher closes there too, have helped to buoy the DAX futures so far today. The Asian markets, which are mostly higher, have helped the opening outlook for the DAX this morning as well. Of course that might change over the next hour or more, but right now the index is priced to reopen at around 16,835
