DAX futures edge higher ahead of the opening

Yesterday there was only one winner here in Europe across the major stock markets and that was the FTSE 100. Elsewhere it was lower closes for the likes of the DAX and the CAC 40, but the losses were modest in percentage terms. The CAC closed 0.29% lower and the DAX was down by 0.24%. The DAX closed 42 points lower, at 18,118. The index had topped out earlier in the day at 18,235. Earlier this morning it was priced to reopen below 18,100, but following the release of the better than forecast German sales data a short while ago the index future has lifted modestly. The top and bottom line beat from VW Q1 results must have helped the opening outlook as well. Against that backdrop we also have to factor that month-end looming later this afternoon. The DAX is currently priced to open at around 18,145
