DAX fails to set a daily close above 17k

Yesterday the DAX lifted past 17k once more and that rise saw it reach a session high at 17,029 just as the US stock markets reopened for business. However, it did not surpass the current all time record high set earlier in the week, at 17,049 and later it backed off into the close and once again failed to set a daily close above 17k. The DAX ended the session at 17,963, with a gain of 41 points on the day. Perhaps that was a disappointment to those bulls looking for a new record close above 17k and it remains to be seen how the index will fare coming into the weekly close today. The DAX futures are right now not taking any chances on that it seems and currently pricing the reopening this morning, pretty much where the index closed yesterday.
