DAX edges lower in first hour of live trade even as Nikkei 225 futures rebound

The European stock markets are struggling to make any progress in the first hour of live trade. The index opened slightly lower today, at 18,312. It had closed on Friday at 18,322. The high seen so far was set at 18,321 which is just shy of the close on Friday. It has been drifting lower over the first hour of live trading and dropped a little closer to 18,275. At the same time the US futures are actually lifting a bit now and that comes as the USD/JPY rebounds back above 146 and the Nikkei 225 futures now turn positive. That should help lift the DAX from here on. The index is just now trading at 18,305
