DAX dragged lower by heavy US falls but futures in the green so far today

All the major European stock markets closed in the reed yesterday afternoon. To be honest, despite any divergence, it would have been a great surprise had it been otherwise. The DAX was the worst performing major index in percentage terms. It closed 1.69% lower, compared to a loss of 0.92% for the FTSE 100 and 0.90% for the CAC 40. The DAX handed back 387 points, closing at 22,620. The low point seen yesterday was set at 22,519. The rebound across the US futures since the nadir yesterday has helped the DAX futures to make some progress earlier today. However, the latest results from the German car giant, VW released this morning have not helped, despite those beating estimates. The premarket VW share price is lower and that is because of warnings from the company regarding the outlook. The DAX was priced to reopen close to 22,800 earlier. It is right now pricing that at around 22,745
