Can Gold touch $2,800 today?

Yesterday Gold touched the $2,790 level for the first time ever and later closed in the US with a record close at $2,787.61. Earlier today the metal touched that $2,790 level again and it has so far rejected a move much above that level, after setting a new all time high earlier, at $2,790.10. The metal has just now fallen back to a session low, at $2,778.23. It is off that low right now though, but can it push on again and get above that 2,790 with a bit more gusto than seen so far this week and perhaps climb to the 2,800 level for the first time ever? Well, that prospect is clearly live, but then again, so is the prospect that it might put in place a double top on the daily charts around $2,790. It is way too early in the session to conclude on that to be honest, but two-way risks are balanced right now. Gold is currently trading at $2,782.75
