On Friday the CAC 40 was unable to replicate the close seen the day before, when the index managed to set a first daily close back above 8k for the first time since early last summer. The CAC 40 had closed at 8,007 on Thursday. The close on Friday was set at 7,973, down from a session high seen earlier, at 8,027. The CAC 40 has just reopened and it has just flirted with a move, back above the 8k handle again. Well, so far it seems to be struggling to vault that level in early trading. Once again the reader is reminded of the record the index set earlier last year, when it reached 8,259. So, despite the records seen in the DAX and the FTSE 100 last week, you can see the CAC has yet to threaten more of the same. The index is right now at 7,995
