CAC 40 records lead European stocks to a higher close

Yesterday the noted rise above 8k in the CAC 40 did ensure a set of higher daily closes for the major European stock market indexes. The CAC 40 rose above 8,000 for the first time ever, reaching a high at 8,029 ahead of the close. The index later posted its first ever daily close above 8k, at 8,016. The FTSE 100 and DAX also closed higher, but despite rising above 7,700, the FTSE was once again unable to post a close above that level. The FTSE 100 closed at 7,692. Today the Asian stock markets are all in the green, led by a rebound in Hong Kong, but the Nikkei 225 has lagged and for all the reasons that sent it scurrying lower yesterday. Meanwhile, the European stock futures are pretty much unchanged this morning. The CAC 40 is currently priced to reopen at around 8,020
