CAC 40 leading the European gains so far this morning
The later session slide in the European stock markets carried the CAC 40 lower in its wake. That saw the French index fall back just below the 8,100 handle. Earlier in the day the index had stalled around 8,215. It later closed at 8,110. The index opened higher this morning, commencing live trading at 8,140 and it has built on that since, buoyed by gains in Renault. The push back towards 8,175 has also been helped by a rebound off the lows in the DAX. That has recovered an earlier drop towards where it closed last night, at 22,433 and it is now rising towards 22,575. However, in percentage terms this morning, it is the CAC that is outperforming its major peers. The index is right now at 8,168
