The opening outlook for the FTSE 100 just noted in the previous update is clearly at odds with that for the DAX and the CAC 40. Right now both those indexes are set to open lower this morning. The CAC 40 played second fiddle to the FTSE 100 yesterday and right now it looks like repeating that performance on the opening today. The CAC 40 closed yesterday at 7,531, with a gain of 56 points on the day. It is right now set to open below 7,500 shortly this morning and so the contrast is clear. Obviously the prospect of the BOE cutting rates later today is once again making the FTSE 100 the positive outlier, where the outlook elsewhere seems to be suffering a degree of risk aversion. The CAC 40 is currently trading at 7,485
