The major European stock markets all closed higher yesterday and the gains were actually led this time by the FTSE 100. That index put on 0.86%, but the CAC 40 was a close second, gaining 0.83% on the day, The index closed at 7,695. The CAC 40 will shortly reopen and it is set to open higher today, currently at around 7,730. However, today is the last live session ahead of the final round of the French election on Sunday. Right now the markets seem pretty convinced that second round will not deliver an outright majority for Le Pen and the National Assembly. There are doubts about that here though and open mind remains in place on that. So, no matter where the index closes later today, the vista could be vastly different on Monday morning.
