CAC 40 failure to post a close above 7,500 casts doubts on direction today

Yesterday, as noted here at the time, the CAC 40 followed the DAX and the FTSE 100 higher and forced its way above 7,500. The move extended to a high at 7,523, but the index was later unable to post a daily close above 7,500. The CAC 40 closed at 7,487, with a gain of 37 points on the day. That was not a positive end to the day really. The index future is not far removed from that closing level this morning, so it remains to be seen if the CAC can push higher again when live trading resumes.
