Brent reverses earlier gains and slides towards $75 per barrel

Earlier this afternoon the price of Brent crude for October delivery shot higher and lifted above $78 per barrel, peaking at $78.21. However, once it reversed back through $77.50 the price action has been more or less lower and it has fallen to a low so far this evening, ahead of the NYMEX settlement, at around $75.65
