Brent reclaims $86 this morning

Oil prices are on the rise again this morning. The price of September Brent is pushing above $86 per barrel as this update is typed. Yesterday Brent recovered a post CPI release low at $84.65 and that led to a recovery towards $85.75. Brent later settled, $0.32 higher on the NYMEX exchange, at $85.40. The geopolitical news emerging from the Mid East this morning is perhaps a driver behind the immediate gains today, but the fact that oil prices defied any fallout from the slide in the US tech stock markets yesterday is countered by the fact that was unique to that sector, because as we know the Dow Jones did not crumble and so the falls in the Nasdaq 100 and S+P 500 were not actually detrimental to the oil price. Brent for September delivery has just now reached a session high at $86.17. It is currently trading at $86.10
