Brent holds onto $74 and lifts to new highs on the week

Yesterday the push above $74 per barrel in January Brent crude later delivered a higher settlement price on the NYMEX exchange. Brent settled $1.42 higher, at $74.23. Earlier today the price lifted above the highs seen yesterday, reaching around $74.65. The drop that followed saw it hold the $74 per barrel handle and just now it is rising again and setting fresh session highs and new highs on the week, rising above $74.70. As noted here earlier this week, there remains little in the way of technical levels this side of $75 per barrel. Perhaps we shall see today, if that level gets put to the test. Brent for January delivery is currently trading at $74.72
