Since basing out around $71.50 per barrel yesterday, the price of Brent crude for February delivery has been on the rebound and that rebound has come in a series of waves, with each high exceeding the prior one. So, despite that, Brent crude settled just $0.05 higher on the NYMEX exchange last night, at $72.19. However, it has been pushing higher this morning and not long ago it set a new high on the week, very close to the $73 handle. It is not much below that level right now and the combination of higher oil prices this morning coupled with a lower GBP/USD has helped to lift the FTSE 100 off the lows. Brent for February delivery is currerntly trading at $72.88
