Brent crude extends gains above $84

The rise in the US stock markets and record gains here in Europe yesterday helped to lift oil prices.  Continued uncertainty over the situation in the Middle East helped too, but it was really the stock markets that seemed to drive prices higher. So, Brent for July delivery settled $0.30 higher on the NYMEX exchange last night, at $83.88. It has extended that rise and lifted above $84 today and just touched $84.50 earlier. It is not far off that session high right now and many in the markets have been eyeing a move to $85 since this time yesterday. Brent for July delivery is currently trading at $84.45
