A few moments ago the Bank of Japan governor, Ueda has been speaking over the news wires and he said that underlying Japanese inflation remains rooted below 2%. Those remarks sent the USD/JPY to a session high just now, at 154.88. His comments have just been echoed in a roundabout way by the Japanese Prime Minister, Ishiba. He stated that Japanese policy is not targeting the exchange rate. The USD/JPY was already on the rise ahead of these comments and this has served to push it higher. The USD/JPY is right now at 154.81, after setting a US close last night at 154.29
