Bitcoin backs away from best levels since December 8

Yesterday Bitcoin managed to reclaim the 44k handle. The lead coin rose to a high at 44,245 just ahead of the US stock markets reopening. However, it was not able to hold that rise and slipped back after the European close, basing out at 43,385. It has rebounded again though and earlier today it hit a fresh interim high at 44,411. That was its best level since peaking at 44,735 back on December 8. However, and once again, it has not held the gain and slipped back underneath 44k. Bitcoin is currently trading at 43,955
