Banking stocks in focus later today-check out the Dow Jones futures this morning

Yesterday, as noted here earlier, the Dow Jones was the only major US stock market index to close lower yesterday, in stark contrast to the tech sector and the Nasdaq 100. The gains in the Nasdaq did ensure the S+P closed higher too, due to the tech component crossover in that index. Later today the Dow Jones could be in focus once again, as the US Q1 earnings season kicks off with a couple of leading banks reporting later this morning. Not all of those are Dow components though, but as far as the index is concerned, JP Morgan chase is the focus there. JPM is due to report its Q1 earnings at 10.55am GMT. We also get results from BlackRock (9.55am GMT), Wells Fargo (10.55am GMT) and Citigroup at 12pm GMT. The Dow Jones closed just 2 points lower yesterday, at 38,459. The index future pricing a higher opening today though, buoyed by gains in the European markets this morning. It will be interesting to see, if those early US earnings results have an impact later ahead of the opening, which is currently priced at around 38,550
