Asian stocks mixed as Nasdaq futures advance

The Asian stock markets have been mixed today, with very modest gains in Japan being offset by losses in mainland China. On Friday the Nasdaq 100 managed to put on 20 points, when posting a record weekly close at 16,777. The index had peaked earlier in the session at 16,839, so not quite matching its all time record high set earlier in the week at 16,860. However, the Nasdaq 100 futures are indicating a higher start for the index later today. So, it is possible that I could be writing about more superlatives for the index later, but we shall have to see on that. Even if that is not the case, the Nasdaq 100 is set to kick off the final week of the year on the front foot. The Nasdaq 100 is currently priced to reopen at around 16,835 this afternoon
