Another record close for the Nasdaq 100

The Nasdaq 100 might not have matched the aspirations of the futures prices seen ahead of the US opening yesterday, but it still managed to set another record close last night. The index gained 49 points on the session, when setting a record close at 22,164.61. The earlier all time record high was set at 22,191.37. That came after a record opening and a subsequent fall to 22,029. The Nasdaq 100 was also the clear winner amongst the major US indexes yesterday and obviously helped the S+P 500 to set a new record of its own. The Dow Jones once again lagged the other two, with a meagre 10 point gain on the day. Just as with the S+P 500, the rise to that new all time high came later in the session, in the final hour of trading. Intel was the one stock that stood out and led the index to that record close. Intel gained 16% yesterday. Right now this morning the Nasdaq futures are pricing a record opening for later today, but at this stage not by very much, remembering the index reopened yesterday at 22,176.02. The Nasdaq 100 is currently priced to reopen around 22,187
