Amazon in the spotlight this evening- Nasdaq 100 futures still holding gains this morning

Earlier this morning the Nasdaq 100 futures were pricing a reopening around 21,725. They have pared that indication just now though. The index closed last night at 21,658 and lagged both the Dow Jones and S+P 500 in terms of percentage gains on the day. That was noted here earlier and notwithstanding where the index trades ahead of the close, just after that close we have another of those tech titans reporting Q4, 2024 earnings. That is Amazon (AMZN). For the purposes of this update the focus is on the Nasdaq 100. Amazon is ranked 4 in that index by market cap. Actually, it enjoys the same position in the S+P 500, but only ranked 15 in the Dow Jones. So, what do the markets expect this evening? Amazon is due to report earnings at 9pm GMT. The consensus is for Q4 EPS of $1.49 on revenue of around $187.3 billion. Incidentally, Amazon has a market cap of $2.545 trillion. So, depending on what we get from this company, it sure can move the Nasdaq 100 futures after the close. The index is right now priced to reopen around 21,700
